I held a daily coordination call. Today, reports were delivered on the situation in Kyiv and the region, Kharkiv and Poltava regions, Kropyvnytskyi and the region, Vinnytsia and Dnipro regions, Zaporizhzhia, and communities along the border with Russia and near the frontline. I consider the performance of the Air Force in some regions of Ukraine to be unsatisfactory, and together with the Commander of the Air Force and the Minister of Defense of Ukraine, we discussed which decisions must be immediately implemented to more effectively intercept “shaheds.” There were reports on the restoration of the energy sector and support for people in the Kharkiv region. The situation remains difficult in Kyiv, where more than 1,200 buildings in different districts of the capital are without heating. More support is needed for residents of these buildings. I instructed that digital tools be deployed to identify and analyze the specific needs of people and communities in real time. The head of Ukrzaliznytsia reported on the consequences of Russian strikes on logistics – these attacks have not stopped for a single day, and throughout this January there has been a significant increase in Russian strikes specifically targeting the railway network. I am grateful to all railway workers for the rapid restoration efforts and for keeping the railways operating. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine reported on the deployment of the necessary forces for recovery efforts and on the operation of assistance points and warming centers. The Minister of Energy reported on the schedule for commissioning cogeneration facilities. The Prime Minister of Ukraine reported on the implementation of government support programs, including the "Warmth Packages" program – we will be expanding it. Thank you to everyone who is helping our people and our communities right now. Glory to Ukraine! -

Today, I had a substantive discussion with @donaldtusk. I thank Poland for its support for Ukraine – both now, as we defend ourselves against the Russian invasion, and throughout all the years since our independence was restored. I briefed him on the situation in our country – in the energy sector and in recovery. We discussed cooperation in this area, and there are things that can strengthen both of our countries. In particular, this concerns the development of our energy networks in Ukraine and in Poland. Another part of our conversation focused on joint defense programs. We count on Poland’s continued participation in the PURL initiative, which enables Ukraine to purchase American weapons. We also expect Ukraine to become a full participant in the SAFE instrument. We are preparing to co-produce drones and other weapons. We also addressed the diplomatic efforts underway to end the war. I updated Donald on the work of Ukraine’s negotiating team. A separate point was the importance of maintaining pressure on Russia. We must bring this war to a real end – with reliable security guarantees for Ukraine and for our entire region. And most importantly, Russia must receive no reward whatsoever for its aggression. -

We are communicating with our partners – with the American side – about truly effective formats and truly necessary results. Ukraine is ready for meetings, Ukraine is ready for decisions, and we expect our partners to be able to act as effectively as possible – in Europe, in the United States, everywhere. Exactly as required for a lasting peace. We don’t miss out on any opportunity to achieve peace and guarantee security. -

I spoke with the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, @Keir_Starmer. I thank Keir for his words of condolence regarding Russian strikes on civilians and energy facilities. It is crucial that the UK is supporting us not only with words but also through concrete energy aid packages. We value the decisions already made and hope that our discussions on strengthening air defense will also yield results. We also discussed diplomatic efforts. The meetings in the UAE were constructive, and the dialogue will continue later this week. Ukraine wants to end this war as quickly as possible and is ready to work 24/7 to achieve a dignified peace. Russia must show the same readiness on its part – not attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure or attempts to cut people off from power and heat, but real steps toward stopping the bloodshed. -

During a conversation with Federal Chancellor of Austria @_CStocker, we discussed the energy situation in Ukraine. Russia strikes energy infrastructure every day to leave Ukrainians without electricity and heat, and it is very important that partners respond to this. That is why we highly appreciate Austria’s decision last week to allocate funds to support our energy sector. Thank you! We also discussed other ways to support our energy system. I also informed the Chancellor about the trilateral meetings of the Ukrainian, American, and Russian delegations that took place in the UAE last week. The parties primarily discussed military issues, but they also talked about security guarantees. Ukraine’s accession to the European Union is one of the key security guarantees not only for us, but also for all of Europe. After all, Europe’s collective strength is possible, in particular, thanks to Ukraine’s security, technological, and economic contributions. That is why we are speaking about a concrete date – 2027 – and we count on partners’ support for our position. I invited the Chancellor to visit Ukraine so that we can continue our dialogue in person. Thank you! -

This is a clear lesson of history: when hatred against one people is not stopped, others cannot remain indifferent or stand idly by. Aggression and disdain for human life and life of entire nations must never prevail, and such protection of life must be the responsibility not only of the brave but of all humanity. Today, the world honors the memory of the victims of the Holocaust—millions of innocent children, women, and men. Millions of Jews murdered by the Nazis. Tragically, the indifference of others contributed greatly to this catastrophe. Yet, ultimately, the world united to defeat the Nazis and achieve victory over this evil. On this very day—January 27, 1945—the last prisoners were liberated from Auschwitz, one of the most horrific Nazi concentration camps. This is exactly how the world must act now. Whenever hatred and war threaten nations, the unity that saves lives is required. Everyone in the world who truly values peace and calm must value them not only for themselves; they must make every effort to ensure that hatred never prevails again, so that anyone who spreads it knows they are destined to lose. Eternal memory to all victims of the Holocaust! -

Overnight, Russia carried out a massive attack on our regions, launching over 370 attack drones and 21 missiles of various types. Kyiv and the region, as well as the Sumy, Kharkiv, and Chernihiv regions, were targeted. In Kharkiv, a maternity hospital, a dormitory housing displaced persons, a medical college, and residential buildings have been damaged. As of now, dozens of people have been reported injured, including a child. In the capital and the surrounding region, the Russians' main targets were energy facilities. Tragically, this attack has claimed the life of one person. My condolences to their family and loved ones. All necessary services are now working at the sites of the Russian strikes, eliminating all consequences: rescuers, medical teams, municipal services, energy workers, and repair crews. I thank every person involved. I am also grateful to all the air defense personnel who repelled the attack. Every such Russian strike on our energy infrastructure proves that there must be no delays in supplying air defenses. No blind eye can be turned to these strikes; they must be met with a strong response. We are counting on the reaction and assistance of all our partners. Every missile for Patriot, NASAMS, and all other systems helps protect critical infrastructure and enables people to endure the winter cold. We must ensure full implementation of everything agreed with President Trump in Davos regarding air defense. I thank all those who help protect lives. -
