The Mayan deities

The Itzamnaaj was lord over the most fundamental opposing forces - life and death, day and night, sky and earth. Itzamnaaj could be depicted as a serpent or two-headed reptile.

Other deities included the sun-god K'inich Ajaw, the rain and storm god Chaak, and the lightning god K'awiil.

The Maya believed each person had a 'life force' in their blood, and draining the blood in a temple could give some of this life force to a god.

Reflecting values of the tiny houses movement
*Inspirations for going tiny is environmental consciousness, self-sufficiency, and the desire for a life adventure.

But tiny houses physically demand particular social relationships that not everyone can manage. A family in a little house will likely feel cramped, which can create a chain reaction of stressors.

Why We Feel Overwhelmed
We’re overwhelmed by all the things we have on our plates, all the interruptions and messages and emails, all the things online and on social media, all the news, and chaos of the world, and all the things going on in our relationships. It’s a lot! We can celebrate the abundance of our lives, but often we bemoan it.

The problem isn’t the abundance, but our fear and anxiety about all of it. Actually, for most of us, the fear is that we’ll let people down. We’ll drop one of the many balls we have in the air and let people down, or worse yet, we’ll drop them all and we’ll be exposed as inadequate!

And I mean it. Don’t even think about it ! If they have to be chased, then they don’t want you. And if they don’t want you, then you shouldn’t want them (see #2). As Maya Angelou says, “When people show you who they are, believe them the first time.” If someone is showing you that they would rather not date you, believe them. Shrug your shoulders and move on. It’s their loss, not yours. No, really—it is.

Failure In The Meritocratic Society
A meritocratic society is one in which, if you've got talent and energy, and skill, you will get to the top, nothing should hold you back. The problem is, if you believe in this system, you'll also believe in a society where those who deserve to get to the bottom also get to the bottom and stay there.

So, your position in life comes to seem not accidental but merited and deserved. And that makes failure seem much more crushing.

The Experience
We asked participants in the US to anonymously describe their own experiences of feeling each of these negative emotions, either toward an individual or a group.

They rated the emotional intensity and duration of each experience, how threatening they perceived the individual or group to be, and other dimensions of the experience.

Under the condition of anonymity, most people openly described individuals and groups they hate – often with a cathartic level of detail – suggesting that experiencing hate is more frequent in people’s lives than we might imagine.

Enterprise Software UX Design Stumbs
A frictionless user experience is an essential component of a successful software application—this is true of enterprise software just as much as consumer software. However, that doesn’t necessarily mean enterprise UX design and consumer UX design should be approached the same way. When building enterprise software, there are some special UX considerations that must be taken into account, and some unique consequences for failing to do so.

On social media face filters

Social media face filters are subtle ways of telling people that being beautiful means not having pimples, blemishes, etc. This narrative is harmful because it pushes a non-inclusive and (almost) unattainable idea of beauty. I believe that eyebags and pimples are part of what it takes to be a human. Humans are not Barbie dolls. We get tired and stressed out.

10. Mark Twain
Mark Twain died of a heart attack on April 21, 1910, which is a pretty common way to go. What’s unusual is that he predicted his own death. “I came in with Halley’s Comet in 1835. It is coming again next year, and I expect to go out with it,” he declared in 1909. “It will be the greatest disappointment of my life if I don’t go out with Halley’s Comet.”

The comet’s perihelion—when it was closest to the sun—was April 20, just one day before Twain shuffled off this mortal coil.

7 Key Life Lessons I Learned from The Subtle Art of Not Giving a Fuck
As the title of the book suggests, not giving a fuck is an art and a subtle one at that. Not giving a fuck about anything is not cool, it’s not the romanticized view of the movie hero who’s a calm badass…

It’s that feeling like nothing in your life matters, where you feel lifeless and are unable to feel anything at all. It’s basically being dead inside and having a severe depression!

At the core, the book The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck is about finding out your values and living by those! In other words, it’s about choosing what to give a fuck about, and what to let go of.

So the first step is to figure out what you stand for. What the things that are important to YOU are. What key principles and values are in line with the person you are and want to be.

Chess is 'life in miniature'
The 13th-century Dominican friar Jacobus de Cessolis described the ways each chess piece contributes to a harmonious social order.

He distinguished paws by trade and connected each to its royal partner.

The first pawn is a farmer and tied to the castle because he provides food to the kingdom.

The second pawn is a blacksmith who makes armour for the knight.

The third is an attorney who helps the bishop with legal matters.

Jacobus's allegory becomes the central message of the mini-series "The Queen's Gambit." Beth becomes a figurative queen after she learns to work with other players. Just like the pawn, she converts in her final game.

1. AutoCAD Architecture
AutoCAD architecture has advantages in fast, efficient drawing, high flexibility, and a high level of drawing accuracy. Widths and heights can be generated directly from the floor plan with customizable dimensional standards. The advantage of this software is that the design is dynamically managed with construction and calculation elements that can adjust whenever parameters change in real time. This software is also very suitable for learning the basics of drawing.
